Avatar: The Game - not as good as the movie
Bigger is not better. Producers have not kept this into account when they have made the game and so we now have to deal with playing a mediocre game who distances himself from the film quality. However, the game has some positive aspects which will delight you, like the two campaigns completely different for the two races - see positive game aspects.
The action from Avatar takes place on the planet Pandora where the people want to extract as many precious resources as they can, reaching conflict with the local population Na'vi. Meanwhile, scientists have discovered a way to transfer human consciousness into artificially human beings like Na'vi, called avatar. You enter in the role of Ryder and after playing about an hour, you can choose between playing for the people or for the Na'vi. Whatever you choose, you will have memorable missions and second hand voices. More disappointing is the fact that the game assumes you are familiar with the avatar, for example for the first time when you enter into your avatar's skin, you will have no sense of awe and fascination - check game features.
Pandora looks fascinating at first, and amazes with beautiful landscapes, but it becomes repetitive and along the ways gets really boring. The jungle, the flying animals, the waterfalls, all are wonderful the first time you see them, and the second, but when you see them everywhere they are not so interesting anymore.
Each region of Pandora is very big, and the missions require travelling long distances to reach the next goal. Along the way you will meet with different enemies, but as Na'vi you will be quite resistant and the bow which you get at the beginning is good and helps you in the fight. You can also use firearms, but they are not too favorable. Much more fun are the swords or the sticks with which you can kill enemes in a more spectacular way.
If you choose the people side, you could use firearms with much better efficiency and there is a big variety to choose the suitable weapons like the pistol, shotgun, flamethrower or others.
Of course, a fantastic game can not be whole without special skills. No matter what campaign you play, you get a few skills such as the ability to heal yourself, to hide or to run faster for a while. If you are playing as Na'vi you can call insects to help you, and as a human you can call the aviation.
Despite of all these skills, Avatar becomes very predictable, the missions being only about you go, collect, and bring back. Fortunately, there are vehicles in the game. The game has also a multiplayer modes which gives an advantage because the campaigns are not very long.
The main attraction of this game is the 3D used technology and if you own a powerful PC you can enjoy this game.
